The sound of heart failure : championship edition
Nes Advantage
No one asked you for your approval, so don’t think Nes need it. They made this disc first take, every take, completely improvised and off the cuff. Then they left, dusting the static from their palms and looking wistfully towards an apocalyptic sunset. Or Coleraine. Or something.

The experimental duo had been demoing tracks for a two year period before the decision was made to release the demos as the finished tracks, warts and all. Any attempts to better the original performances proved fruitless. And so the sad piano ballad of Escher Beats retains its cocophony of white noise at the end, Sometimes I Feel Like Marlon Brando has a three part structure running to almost eight minutes, which also includes the infamous moment where Ryan spiked his guitar off the Colerabbey studio floor during a take, breaking it in half. I’d Rather Be An Arterial Scloretic Than The King of Egypt contains the sample of a medical cassette that has different sounds of pulmonary heart problems on it. It also has chimes with guitar put through lots of pedals, just in case that wasn’t enough for you. And with This Day Is Done, the ‘Tage combine live electronic beats with one chord on the piano to create something truly spectral.

Nes has come for your children. And your flat screen television. They’re going to take it to the dump and pour delay all over it – so just give in and download the record.
