To The Boats..! began their career in “custom rock music’ in 2007, bringing the songs of Grilly’s ‘On Benefit’ album to an unsuspecting London audience.  Combining the folk charm of Half Man Half Biscuit, with the metal pretensions of Dillinger Escape Plan, TTB..! revel in their strange world of supermarkets,  Kid A hoodie-wearing goth girls, and broken hearts & minds.

Their live shows have always been an exuberant affair, and in choosing to track this record mostly live over the space of a weekend in a disused basement under London Bridge, the Bruised Pilgrim LP loses none of the energy in translation from stage to disc.  The evolution of the music from bedroom recordings to full band renditions is remarkable:  Love has become a freewheeling guitar-laced epic, while Klein Bottle Fishtank has evolved from a proto-Berlin dance song to brutal, percussive hardcore. Grilly’s twisted approach to prog-spazz songwriting has been matched with the rawness of an experienced hard-rocking, fun-loving troupe to produce a unique and effecting set.
